Frequently Asked Questions

1. Do you check files for viruses before you upload them?

Yes, we scan them using the most recent antivirus updates/patches and we always use more than one antivirus program to scan each file. In addition, the MD5-sum of each file is checked when possible.

Note: It is generally not recommended to install more than one anti-virus program on one single system because it might cause conflicts between the programs and give error messages.

2. How do I know if a piece of software has adware/spyware/malware or not?

We do not upload or post any software on this site that contain any spyware and/or malware. Each file is installed on our test machines and checked to see if they have any spyware or malware in them. If a program is free because it is supported by advertisements, then it is labeled as such in bold letters on the download page.

3. What should I do if I'm having trouble playing a movie file?

Please visit the software section. Under "Media Players", you will find a nice selection of free players which can play just about any file format.

4. Where are your servers located?

They are located in Pennsylvania and Dallas, Texas in the United States.

5. Can you give me support for a file that I downloaded from FilePulse?

Unfortunately, we cannot provide support for any software on FilePulse. Afterall, we did not create them. We simply distribute them. Please contact the authors of the software if you need help.

If you are having trouble finding techical support for a file, feel free to contact us and we'll try and point you in the right direction. If you are having trouble downloading a file, we will be more than glad to help you.

6. I downloaded a file and Windows says that the zip/rar is corrupt. What should I do?

Most of the time, this happens when you lost the connection to our server and the download didn't finish to 100%. Please try downloading the file again or try using a download manager to make sure the file is downloaded 100% to completion. If the problem persists, please contact us right away.

7. Do you test files before uploading them to see if they are worth downloading?

All software is checked to make sure they are useful and worthwhile to download and install. Full game clients, game demos, and mods are checked to see if they work but not to see if they are fun. People have different opinions when it comes to how enjoyable a video game is. This is why game demos are created in the first place.

8. Why don't you post more firewall programs, browsers, etc?

Unlike demos, patches, or movies, we will only post software that we think is worthwhile. For example, there are a lot of anti-spyware programs out there, but instead of listing them all, why not just offer the ones that will work the best?

9. Do you get paid to recommend certain files?

No, we don't get paid to recommend any files. If we recommend something, it is our own opinion and it means we genuinely think that it is a useful program. Any offers to pay us to recommend a program will not be accepted.

10. Why did you rate this file 5 out of 5? I installed it and it didn't work or I thought it sucked.

No matter how good a program is, there are always people who won't like it. This can be said about anything in life. It would be silly of us to not rate a piece of software 5 stars simply because there might be a few people out there who don't like it.

If a program doesn't work, it is most likely because you have an unusual configuration on your computer or you have an existing program that that is preventing it from running or installing. Poorly designed firewalls, anti-spyware, and anti-virus are known to cause these problems.
